Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) allow you to reliably disclose the environmental impacts of your products. With these documents, the environmental impacts of your products are reported in accordance with international standards and published by official EPD program operators. Through our EPD services, we calculate the environmental impacts of your products, prepare the required documentation, support you during the verification phase, and ensure a smooth and efficient EPD process. With EPDs, your products can stand out in export markets, green building projects, and similar sustainability-driven initiatives.

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), defined under the ISO 14025 standard and classified as Type III environmental labels, provide a standardized way to report the environmental impacts of products based on predefined rules. These rules—called Product Category Rules (PCRs)—are developed for product groups with similar functions and published transparently by EPD program operators.

The environmental impacts disclosed in EPDs are calculated through a life cycle assessment (LCA) conducted in accordance with the applicable PCR, and the report is prepared following the program operator’s rules. The document must be verified by an independent verifier authorized by the EPD program operator. What makes EPDs valuable is the standardized structure of environmental data, the transparency of the methodology, and the independent third-party verification process.

Advantages of EPDs

EPDs offer several key advantages, particularly for export-oriented companies seeking to demonstrate the environmental performance of their products. They provide a competitive edge by earning additional credits in green building certification systems such as LEED and BREEAM, where EPDs for construction materials are often a requirement. Moreover, EPDs help companies meet eligibility criteria for numerous public tenders across the European Union, where such documentation is increasingly mandated. Their adoption is growing rapidly both in Türkiye and abroad, with widespread application across sectors including construction materials, textiles, chemicals, furniture, and many others.

What Does an EPD Contain?

EPD documents contain a lot of information from the manufacturer to the characteristics of the product. EPDs typically include the following information:

- Product description (purpose, physical properties)

- Company description (brief overview of the manufacturer)

- Raw materials used in production

- Product use information

- Production process (flow charts, standards followed, etc.)

- Product standards and certifications

- LCA results (environmental indicators)

- Independent verifier details

- EPD program operator information

- The LCA practitioner details

Benefits and Use Cases of EPDs

EPD Process

We support you throughout the entire EPD certification process. First, we inform you about the process and identify the applicable Product Category Rules (PCRs) for the products you wish to certify. Then, we visit your facility to collect accurate data for the required LCA study and perform comprehensive modeling to calculate environmental impacts. Based on these calculations, we prepare your EPD and the accompanying LCA report in full compliance with the rules of the chosen EPD program operator and submit the documents to an independent verifier. Once the verification is complete, your EPD is ready to be published.

01 We begin with a site visit to learn about your production process and identify the necessary data.

02 Using the data collection form we provide, we model your production processes and begin the LCA study.

03 Based on the modeling results, we prepare your EPD and accompanying LCA report in accordance with international standards and the rules of the selected EPD program operator.

04 We submit the finalized LCA report and EPD document to an independent verifier.

05 After verification approval, your EPD is published through the selected program operator, completing the process.
