Alcas Metal has completed its life cycle assessment (LCA) study and EPDs for mill-finished, anodized, and powder-coated aluminum profiles in partnership with İmnera, and has published the corresponding EPD documents.
Alcas Metal Sanayi A.Ş., a company that embraces global standards in aluminum profile manufacturing, has completed its Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) studies with İmnera for its mill-finished, anodized and powder-coated aluminum profile products, earning the right to publish EPD documents that demonstrate the environmental performance of all three products. The EPD certificates — internationally recognized documents — were published on The International EPD® System, a Sweden-based program, and its regional operator EPD Türkiye. The EPD documents, compliant with ISO 14025 and EN 15804+A2, are accessible via the links below.
As İmnera, we are proud to have been a partner to Alcas Metal — a standout in the industry with its high-capacity production infrastructure and global export network — throughout both the LCA and EPD processes for three distinct aluminum profile products. You are welcome to contact us for detailed information about our LCA and EPD services.
What Is an EPD?
An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is a document that assesses the environmental impacts of a product and presents them transparently to consumers, disclosing those impacts across the product’s entire life cycle in a standardized format. It covers all stages — from raw material extraction and manufacturing processes to transportation and impacts arising throughout the product’s service life — enabling consumers to make more informed choices when selecting environmentally responsible products.
What Are the Benefits of an EPD?
An EPD document holds significant value both in supporting environmental sustainability and in enabling companies to market their products with a competitive advantage. By providing consumers with accurate and reliable information about the environmental impacts of products, it encourages conscious purchasing decisions. At the same time, companies can assess the environmental performance of their products and take steps toward continuous improvement.
How Does the EPD Certification Process Work?
The EPD certification process involves a comprehensive assessment. The first step is defining the life cycle system boundaries of the product — a stage that encompasses detailed analysis of processes from raw material extraction through to production and distribution. Once the LCA study is complete, the EPD document incorporating the LCA results is prepared in accordance with the format specified by the EPD program operator. The document is then verified by an independent third-party verifier authorized by the EPD program operator. Finally, the documents are published by the EPD program operators and made accessible to companies and consumers.
Alcas Metal
Operating on a 42,000 m² site in Tekirdağ with 36,000 m² of enclosed production space, Alcas Metal Sanayi A.Ş. operates a modern extrusion facility purpose-built for aluminum profile manufacturing. The facility employs 420 qualified personnel and runs five extrusion presses with pressing capacities of 4,400, 2,750, 1,800, 1,540, and 880 UST. With an annual production capacity of 34,000 tonnes, the facility can produce profiles across a wide width range from 5 mm to 410 mm. An in-house die shop equipped with high-technology CNC machines and a capacity of 2,400 dies per year ensures precise, high-quality die manufacturing.

Exporting 85% of its production to 34 countries, Alcas Metal provides fast and reliable service primarily to the United States and Europe through its global office and business partner network. The facility processes a broad range of 6xxx and 1xxx series aluminum alloys in its extrusion capacity — including EN AW-6063, 6060, 6082, 6061, 6005, 6005A, 6101B, 6106, 6463, and 1070A — manufacturing products in compliance with the EN 755-1 standard, with the capability to produce precision profiles to EN 12020-1 upon request. Alcas Metal systems are subject to comprehensive testing by certified testing centers. Holding ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949:2016, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, ISO 50001:2018, UKCA, EN 15088:2005 (CE), QUALANOD, QUALICOAT, and TSE certifications, Alcas Metal underpins its commitment to quality and sustainability with internationally recognized standards.
Mill-Finished Aluminum Profile

Mill-finished aluminum profiles are products that retain aluminum’s natural metallic appearance, having undergone no surface treatment following the extrusion process. These profiles are widely used in applications where surface aesthetics are not a primary concern — such as industrial components, structural frames, supports, and brackets — while also offering a versatile base suitable for further surface treatments, including anodizing, painting, or machining. Available in lengths up to 13,400 mm and profile widths up to 400 mm, these products cover a broad application range with unit weights spanning 0.050 to 25.00 kg/m3. Mill-finished aluminum profiles develop an oxide layer over time through natural oxidation, providing basic corrosion resistance.
Anodized Aluminum Profile

Anodized aluminum profiles are products in which the natural oxide layer on the aluminum surface is thickened through an electrochemical process, enhancing corrosion resistance, surface hardness, and aesthetic versatility. The anodizing process forms a uniform and hard oxide film layer, equipping the profile with excellent wear and abrasion resistance against environmental conditions. Available in natural/silver, champagne, bronze, and black color options as well as various surface finishes such as glossy, matte, and brushed, anodized profiles are the preferred choice in architectural applications — such as facade cladding, window frames, and curtain wall systems — for both durability and aesthetics. Producible in lengths up to 7,600 mm and with anodizing layer thicknesses up to 20 microns, these profiles are non-combustible, 100% recyclable, and inert.
Powder-Coated Aluminum Profile

Powder-coated aluminum profiles are produced through an advanced coating process in which dry powder is electrostatically applied to the aluminum surface and then cured in high-temperature ovens to form a hard and protective finish. Ideal for architectural applications — such as doors, windows, and facades — where both visual appeal and high durability are required, these profiles combine enhanced resistance to weather conditions with an extensive range of color options. Produced in lengths up to 13,400 mm, they can be customized using epoxy, polyester, epoxy-polyester, and metallic powders across 180 RAL colors as well as custom smooth and textured coatings. Powder-coated aluminum profiles are manufactured under quality assurance through a QUALICOAT-certified production process.
